Henrico VINELink Release Coverage
Virginia Jail VINE is the automated notification track relevant to Henrico County Regional Jail West and Jail East. It can present a participating jail's status or custody event for one matched person and allow registration for offered notifications. VINE is a notification service. It is not Henrico's legal booking and release record, a court docket, or a historical list of everyone released.
Virginia uses a separate VADOC notification process for state-prison events. A person who moves from a Henrico jail into Virginia Department of Corrections custody has changed systems. Federal Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Marshals, and ICE custody are also outside the local Virginia Jail VINE track. Start by identifying the reporting agency, not by treating all “inmate” results as interchangeable.

After selecting Virginia, confirm that the matched record belongs to the intended person and that Henrico's jail system is the supplying agency.
Search a Henrico VINELink Record
Use a full name or the offender or booking identifier offered by the live interface. Do not rely on name alone when several people appear. A booking date, age or birth information, facility, and agency can prevent a mistaken match.
- Open VINELink and choose Virginia. Select the custody or offender search offered for the local jail track.
- Enter the person's full name or known booking or offender number. Try accurate name variants when the first search is empty.
- Compare every available identifier. Confirm that the agency is the Henrico jail system and not another Virginia locality.
- Open the matched record. Record the status or event exactly as written, plus its date, time, facility, and the time of the lookup.
- If the event is vague, call the relevant Henrico jail and request the release or transfer entry for the booking episode.
A negative result is not proof of release. The person may still be in another custodian's system, may have a spelling variation, or may not be visible in the current interface. Henrico's adult jail search also excludes juveniles.
Henrico VINELink Release Fields
Fields and labels can change in the live interface. Focus on the identity, agency, custody meaning, and time of the event. Preserve the exact wording rather than translating a transfer into community release.

A VINE release result proves what the supplying jail transmitted. It does not alone exclude VADOC, Chesterfield, another jail, BOP, USMS, or ICE custody. The Henrico release sheet is the better local evidence for actual exit time, event type, and destination when recorded.
Register for Henrico Release Alerts
Registration begins from the matched person's record. Select only the notification methods actually offered there. Keep the contact information current so an alert can reach its intended recipient.
- Open the confirmed Henrico record and choose the notification or registration option.
- Select an available telephone, text, or email method and enter the requested contact information.
- For telephone alerts, create an original four-digit PIN. Complete the service's live verification steps.
- When an automated call arrives, enter the PIN to acknowledge it. Unanswered calls may continue until acknowledged or for 24 hours.
- Save the registration details. Use the VINE hotline at 1-800-467-4943 and press zero for operator help or a forgotten PIN.
Official material warns that alert calls may originate from area code 502. That can help distinguish a VINE call from an ordinary local number. Registration is confidential, but the registrant remains responsible for updated contact details and for checking the underlying agency record.
Confirm a Henrico VINE Release
Start with the event's reporting agency. For Henrico, call Jail West at 804-501-4581 during business hours or 804-501-4586 after hours. Jail East uses 804-652-1211 during business hours and 804-652-1100 after hours. Ask whether the person remains in custody and whether the recorded event was community release, internal movement, or transfer.
Next, pair the alert with the court docket. A bond, dismissal, sentence, or other order shows legal authority but not the exact minute jail processing ended. For lasting proof, request the existing intake and release record, actual release date and time, recorded disposition, and destination or receiving authority for the named episode.
When a state sentence is involved, use the VADOC locator and state records. For a federal sentence, use BOP sources. A USMS pretrial placement may require the federal docket or custodian, and an ICE handoff requires the ICE locator or contact route. One database cannot resolve every custody layer.
Henrico VINE Stops at VADOC
Virginia's local-jail and state-prison notification tracks are separate. A registration tied to a Henrico jail record does not automatically move with the person after a transfer to VADOC. The official Virginia VINE and VADOC workflow makes that split explicit. Re-register through the correct state process when the receiving system changes.
VADOC distinguishes anticipated and accomplished release events. An advance notice is typically sent about 30 days before a planned state release and can change. A later actual-release notice concerns the point when the person is no longer in VADOC custody. Henrico's projected release date is likewise future-facing. Neither should be described as an event that has already occurred.
After a state release, a person may appear under a probation or parole district. That means incarceration ended while community supervision continues. District 32 serves Henrico, but its assignment should be verified through the live directory and locator. A fully discharged person may no longer yield a useful current state result.
Read Henrico Custody Events Carefully
“Released,” “transferred,” and “discharged” answer different questions. Released from a reporting jail means that jail no longer holds the person. Transferred means custody continued elsewhere. Discharge usually means a sentence or supervision obligation ended, though the exact record controls. A projected date estimates a future event and may change because of court orders, holds, credits, discipline, recalculation, or transfer.

Preserve timestamps and exact terms. If VINE and the current jail search disagree, report the conflict and call the agency. Do not choose whichever screen seems newer without confirmation.
Note: Re-register after a Henrico-to-VADOC transfer because the local jail alert does not follow into the state-prison track.
Henrico VINELink System Boundaries
VINELink should be paired with the system that controls the next custody stage. The Henrico Sheriff search answers whether an adult is currently shown in Jail East or Jail West. It excludes juveniles and supplies no accomplished-release field. Henrico court records explain bond, dismissal, conviction, sentence, revocation, and other judicial action, but they do not record the exact minute custody ended.
For state custody, the VADOC Inmate & Supervisee Locator accepts the first three letters of a first name with the complete last name, or a seven-digit DOC ID. Optional filters include location, race, sex, and age range. VADOC says its locator updates daily and may be inaccurate or outdated. An institution result means prison custody continues. A probation or parole district may mean incarceration ended while supervision continues.
BOP's locator is the proper public route for many federal sentenced people and former federal prisoners. It is not part of VINELink. USMS has no comparable public historical locator for its pretrial custody, and ICE uses a separate civil detention locator. A Henrico jail event followed by ICE pickup is a transfer, even though the local criminal custody ended.
These boundaries explain why the agency field matters so much. A correct name in the wrong database can still produce no answer. Follow the court and custody chain, then register again whenever the person enters a notification system that does not inherit the prior registration.
Timing also changes what each system can say. VINE can deliver a near-event alert, but the alert still depends on what the participating agency transmits. Henrico's current locator may change after processing, and VADOC describes its own locator as daily updated. A formal record response arrives later but can provide stronger proof. Use the fast source for notice and the agency record for confirmation.
If a record shows only an expected date, wait for an accomplished event. Advance VADOC notice and Henrico's projected field can both change. Label each item by source and event type so a future plan is never presented as a completed release.
